| Vasi.. and his first snowman! |
The best day Ever! says Vas, who had never seen the white stuff envelop everything.
There is a special kind of quiet that arrives with a good snowfall: you can hear it spread soundlessly onto the early morning cold.
Vasi ran out in his underware, PJ's actually... (Do you really need pics?) And was packing snow into a pile in a very sad Aussie attempt at making a snow man. Dave set him straight and showed him how the snow stuck together in balls.. which could be rolled into bigger balls. And together they made this guy.

Not bad..
The new guy had a few beers over the course of about two days and melted into the warmth of a coastal winter.
But the Kootenay's are a little different and the snow has stuck to the ground in Nelson and stayed there. .. Abby's snowman was a little more traditional than Vasi's beer guzzling guru.. a carrot nose and coal for eyes.. stick arms can't hold a can of Kokanee Beer, but they look good.
At the Johnston house there were marshmallows.. Aussi'es don't do marshmallows like Canadians, a fire to roast them on and a great group of family and friends to share the experience with.
We know how to toast the outside just right, and melt the middle..

Yup.. even in the snow Travis and Steph's kids play out in the yard.. sitting around the fire, playing on the swings: who cares about the cold? Dress for it!

The very best thing about winter in Canada is the snow.. and all the things that go with it.
I do wish I could have gone skiing.. but a ticket these days is about $80! and with rentals!? .. it is even more.
But we did do a little back yard sledding,

Snow... it is relaxing, real and exciting all at the same time.
Snow is good.. Especially when you know you are heading to the sunshine soon!
Thank you soooo much for a great time kids.. Love you lots!
