Emballage pour Paris

Our view from the room's balcony: Vancouver

Vas and I went to Vancouver last Friday.  We stayed right downtown at the Blue Horizon.. on Robson.  We wanted to be near the Vancouver Museum, so I could show him the enormous Emily Carr work that calls Vancouver home.  But we didn’t make it.

We also wanted to go to the all-you-can-eat sushi place on the corner of Denman and Davie.  But it was closed.

Vas wanted to see a movie and spent four hours walking around the city looking for the theatre on Cambie.. which he never did find.

And I had two draft beer, on tap from a Stanley Park micro brewery, and was sicker than a dog for most of the night and into Saturday.

But, it wasn’t all bad.

It didn't rain.. much.

Instead of sushi we had soup.. at an awesome Vietnamese place on the corner of Denman and Davey.

Vas finally gave up on the theatre on Cambie and found one a block and a half from the hotel.  He managed to watch the movie he had come to the city for.

My headache and dry heaves let up by noon on Saturday, so we were able to get home ok.

And as for the artwork, while we didn’t make it to the Vancouver Art Gallery, I did get to Opus, next to the Emily Carr Art School on Granville Island.   I picked up canvas and paint to take to Paris.

I am starting to think about Paris: what I will do there and what I need to do before hand.  Canadians don’t need a Visa for Paris, so that is easy.   We do need an adapter for the power points.. the plug-ins in Europe are different and neither the Australian nor Canadian ends are going to allow us to power up our computers or I-Pads.  We will have to get a few Euros.. money is good, but our debit cards should work, as well as a charge card. It is a long flight, I will need my passport and little travel bag with all my flying goodies.   And we will need to pack some warm clothes.. layers: the weather should be between 10 (high) and about 1 degree.  So pants, sweaters, scarves and boots are the go.

The French are very ‘stylin’ so I may take along a few accessories.. nothing too fancy, but it sounds like a trip to the ‘barn’ is in order.  Maybe I will get a hat!

I will drink bottle beer.. or even more likely, French wine.

Il va a l’amusement!  Insha'allah!
