Life Today

Me
I do enjoy my life.

I loved being a kid.. with tons of time to roam around our cabin in the summer and explore the mountains around Fernie in the winter.  I loved my teen years.. that exhilarating feeling of living without concequences..

Monte and I
When my boys were born I thought I would burst, I was so proud.. mostly of myself!

And I love that life has brought me to this moment in time: looking out over the Pacific Ocean,  surrounded by the people I have gathered up over more than 50 years of living.

Vas and I woke up this morning and looked out over that magical spot where the river meets the sea.  There were otters playing on the grassy slope yesterday, but this morning there is just one lone duck, floating along on the absolute stillness of the water.  The maple trees are just starting to change color.. I can see both the gold and red poking out from a sea of green... cedar, pine.. those conifers you can always trust to be there.

Near Jasper.. driving back from Calgary
And I feel surrounded by family.  Jackie is still here, she will be off to Bulgaria in a few weeks.  My oldest sister will be up and running soon, as soon as Dave gets her her morning coffee. She will spend the day finishing up owls, framing pictures, preparing for an arts sale on Saturday.  Mom and dad are into their morning ritual: Homecare is here, getting dad showered and ready for the day.. and filling mom's coffee cup as she prepars for a busy day of being a carer, gardener, mother, wife, homemaker extrodinaire.

I have already got a message from Gabe: I am closer now to my middle son than I have been in years.. in so many ways.  I know where my other two are: which is also such a gift.. just to know they are safe, and happy.

Vas, Olive and Abby
Yup.. it's going to be another great day-in-the-life-of!  Vas has gone for a walk and given me time to blog, and think back on the last week or so: his arrival in Vancouver. Our drive to Nelson and a visit with Trav and Steph and my grandDaughters!

A visit to Gabe's place on the beach in Nelson.  A trip to Dairy Queen with my grandSons!  How beautiful they continue to be.  A trip to Calgary and a great visit with Jeri and Harry and some of their family.

Gabe and I checking out the fish in the creek near Surveyors Lake
Monte stopped by, thinner and fitter than I have ever seen him.

Then back to the coast.. where we can relax, play in the shop, visit, write.. and watch the birds out the window with our coffee.

I will probably go back to work at some point, but for now..

I just Really LOVE my life!
