Another good week

Another good week.

Mom is doing ok.  Well, better than ok I am thinking.

She played bridge on three different occasions this week.  Plus, she was VERY disappointed that ‘Ladies Day’ golf was cancelled due to rain.

Rain didn’t postpone  a visit from June, Paula’s mom, who dropped in for a couple of nights.. she brought her cousin Joan and Paula and Chris’s other boy, Nicholas.  Mom offered to have the women stay with her and entertained them well into the night.. wee hours of the morning actually.. watching curling and laughing.

Nic camped at our little cottage where we watched the tele and played on our ‘devices’ until well past.. well, it was after 8.

Mom made dinner: an amazing dinner.  She roasted stuffed chicken breasts, did up a salad, veggies, roasted potatoes.  She made an apple pie as well as a carrot cake with proper icing.  She had the table set with the good plates and silver.

I organized a meal too.. wieners and marshmallows over the fire that Vas always has going.

Vas made bacon and eggs one morning for brekky.. I brought over the cereal.

I do what I can.

Sam still got his morning walks.. Vas and Sam took Nic for a cappuccino ‘downtown’ with the boys.

Nic and I went kayaking..  and then checked out the beach for oysters and such.

We took a walk to the government wharf as well.. looking or crabs.  But.. there weren’s any: hence the weenies.

Nic, June, Joan and I went on a bit of a hike on Francis Pen.

Nic got his walking stick done up nice..  sanded, marked with his initials and a nice finish.

Sara and Logan came for a visit as well.  Logan loves rain, puddles, the dog and the cat, Nic, marshmallows and a good fire.  That all goes down well with Vas.

John and Lynn paid a visit too!  They arrived on Saturday, before we had even caught our breath.. and then Sunday, mom, John and Lynn and I met up with Monte and Bonny at Gramma’s Pub in Gibson’s.

Monte laughed when he saw the name “Grandma’s Pub?” he laughed.  Funny name for a pub.  Not many grandma’s hang out in the pub!  He was more than a little surprised when he discovered that it was where he was meeting his own grandmother.

I didn’t tell him what she had been up to more than one evening during that week.

Joan had been absolutely delighted to find out that my mother, Monte’s grandma, likes beer.  And of course.. beer drinking is best done with friends and family around a nice hot fire.

Yup.. it flew by.  But, it was another good week.
