November

Color.. Robert's Creek

 It’s November…

The beauty in the details..
We are waking up later these days.. and NOT because we are going to bed later.  No, we are waking up later: just because we can.  And even though every day is different, each one has a rhythm that is becoming familiar.. and with that familiarity comes a sense of ease.  It's just getting a whole lot more relaxed around here.

Mom has the homecare coming in later, so mornings are slower.  But even with a slow start, by noon we have all completed a few little things.... breakfast, the dishes, we've cleaned up and made the bed.  If it's Thursday we've all taken out the garbage. Life here is filled with all that stuff that used to take no identified time: no space.

Here, life is all about the details.  “Did you sleep well?” “Should I take the re-cycling in today?” “Do you need milk?” …"Did dad ‘go’ this morning?”

I go for a walk most mornings.  Not as long as Vas’s treks along Lagoon road, past the clinic and then beside the lake and home... certainly not as long as Dave’s walks around Francis Penn, or over and up Daniel Mountain.  But I try to get some exercise.

And sometimes I take my camera.

The days are really running into one another, and just when I think that everyday is starting to be the same as the one before, something changes..

Sometimes it rains, sometimes the sun comes out.

Some days dad feeds himself and laughs, and sometimes he needs a little more help and hurts..

Some days mom is cooking, and gardening and shopping and.. well, REALLY busy, and sometimes she just curls up with a good book.

We often have dinner at mom and dad's place these days: always good.

And tonight it was Cabbage Rolls, mashed potatoes and a terrific avocado salad.  My mom's cooking Rocks!  And what was really awesome, is tonight, two of my three boys made the trek across the province to sit at the table with us.. and their wife/girlfriend and kids.

It is going to be a busy few days.  We have lots of plans, and presents and time to spend with each other.

Its November.. and it can be cold.  But that's how we know that Christmas is not too far away!
