Writing it down

I need to get back to blogging: writing is my memory and the personal computer in my head has not been working all that well lately.

Could be jet lag.. at least that was a contributing factor last week.

I drove to Darwin from Mataranka.. spent the night and then caught plane to Sydney.  Once there I hung out for 8 hours waiting for my 14 hour flight to SanFrancisco.. that's when I got an email from Nola.

Ya.. it could be stress.

Gabe was not doing well.. the personal computer in his head had a bit of glitch.  How lucky am I that I was on my way to Canada anyway.  But it was still hours away.

Once in San Fran I had another 8 hour wait before I arrived in Calgary.  Jeri picked me up at midnight.. gave me a hug and a bed and the next morning I was a visitor at the Lougheed Hospital.  He was on the mend: still is.

Mental health affects everyone, in some way.  But, sometimes it takes being as low as you can before you are able to start the climb up. Other people seemed to know before we did.. me anyway: Gabe and I needed a diagnosis.  It helps.

A few days later Travis shows up after spending 30 days on a rig in Northern Alberta.. he was heading to Nelson.  So we all pack up and take a road trip to BC.

Travis and Olivia
We just arrive and Steph goes into labour.. Travis's second daughter, Olivia George, arrives March 14.  She is perfect.. she is just beginning.

Gabe cries.. and cries.. and cries..  He has worked hard to have a child, and it is a definite trigger.

A couple of days later Trav drives us to Calstlegar and we fly back to Calgary.. where we keep busy with appointments: doctors, dentists, chiro, massage, acupuncturists.  We explore job opportunities, visit with friends, take the dog for walks.

One day at a time.

The jet lag is gone, and the stress level has receded.  But.. I still need to write things down.

I head back tomorrow..
     Chiropractor - check
     Massage - check
Shopping for under ware - check
     Dinner with Sherrill and Royce
Billy Elliot.. at the Jubalee auditorium
     Car rental return
     Visit with Jeri
     Clean up, laundry and pack
      Bath...

Gabe's list is a whole lot longer and a lot less trivial.  He has major life choices to make, work to do: practical, emotional, physical..
.

So we picked him up a little diary..
It's a start.
