Things games teach us

I was playing Suduko the other day..   I had run out of ‘Easy’ and ‘Medium’ puzzles, and was attempting ‘Hard’ (forget the Diabolical!)

Ok.. sometimes I sort of cheat.

It isn’t really cheating: I just check to make sure the numbers I have placed are in the right place.. you know, before I continue with the wrong numbers.  It isn’t like I remember any of the other numbers.. my mind doesn’t work that way.

It doesn’t remember much these days.  As Deb says, ‘Don’t you love it when you can hide your own Easter Eggs?”

Not really..

But, anyway..

I would be working away on a puzzle, but then I start wondering if I put something in the wrong place.  I think, “this could be a 3, but maybe I put that 4 in the wrong place”.

I get stuck.  Nothing seems to fit and my mind starts to wander.. thinking about deserting the page and moving on.. or, go to the back of the book and check the numbers I have placed.

All good..

I look.

Numbers are all good… and then suddenly, it all comes together.

Amazing how important a strong foundation is.  With the knowledge that the numbers are right, I can move on.  Just a little bit of doubt, and the whole thing crumbles.

Foundations are important in every aspect of life.

When we are confident in what we are doing, where we have come from and where we are going, things come together.

Positive thinking only works when you know what it is you want.

Power of the mind.

I don’t think I will teach my kids how to cheat at Suduko.. but I am not hesitant anymore about teaching them goal setting and visualization.

They said Suduko was good for the mind!
