Christmas in 'Nam

We have decided to stay on until after New Years here at the Eco Spa Village Resort in Phan Thiet.   The cabins are nice: and at night.. you are put to sleep by the sound of the waves. It's a bit quiet.. even boring, but that is nice at this point in our lives.

Cabins.. ours is that far one.. sure it's a bit hard walking up the rock steps, but.. good exercise!

Getting ready..
Taking it easy...
Vas and I spend our days just sitting on the lounges.. looking out on the water.. drinking Bia Saigon Lager.. beside the pool.

I sometimes feel sorry for the folks at home, but then remember.. it's about choices.  I don't have a 'home' right now.. I don't own furniture, or get to spend much time with my family: whom I adore.  and miss: especially at Christmas.  And I actually worked this past year.. although, at a job I loved.. a job I actually woke up in the morning excited about going to.  That is pretty lucky.. Outback Australia can be pretty rough and yet I managed to get a position in a place with perfect weather and lovely people.  It's largely about choices, but luck does play into it.  And, I have been pretty lucky.

We met a fellow from Whitehorse, on holidays with his mother.  It made for great Christmas conversation as it seems that so many of the Canadians I have met overseas are interesting.. interested in the world about them and well read.  It was nice to think about home over the scallops, barbecued fish.. noodles, rice.. squid.. A Vietnamese Christmas dinner, complete with balloons!
2 k of beach.. view made possible using my new Christmas Pressy.. a Sony Camera!

I go to the spa almost everyday.. check out the 'menu' and go for it: a full body massage, facial, pedicure.. full body massage.. a two person full body massage.. a full body massage with hot rocks.. hair treatment.. reflexology treatment..

Phan Thiet

Vas and I have visited 'town'.. you just take the blue #6 bus and it goes right to the market.  You go over a bridge right before you get off..  we watched them clean-up the fishing boats before heading out on the water again and getting to work.. bobbing about in the waves..

Sheesh.. Holidays ROCK!  I haven't had a paid holiday in years.. And.. when I get back I will still have three weeks to .. visit the dentist, get my hair done.. legs waxed.. see a doctor, visit the chiropractor.. go shopping in Darwin.. visit Crocodillias.. overnight in Kakadu National Park.. go swimming at Elsey.. and get ready for another marvellous year in Mataranka.

It's not always easy, but I think I made the right choices for me.

I love my life!
