Laminating and Life

I pretty much locked myself in the house to work on ‘mentor’ stuff these last few days. There is lots to do.. I think.  I may just be avoiding things.. like that black hole of a ‘web portal’ where we are supposed to be putting our reports. But  really, it has to happen, right?

I bought a laminator in KL.. maybe a mistake on my part as I have become the laminating ‘queen’.

I’ve made phoneme flashcards in class ‘sets’ .. so we can play games: Memory – Bonk! – Matching..

I’ve printed off vocabulary cards.. with words from the text books, as well as Dolch words.. the ones you can’t sound out.

I’ve laminated game boards and game pieces, downloaded pictures, and laminated those, made calendar activities, designed writing activities, laminated story starters, made decodable readers.

I put my head down at six this morning and when I lifted it again, it was already afternoon.  I did that yesterday too.. had lunch, got on the computer and the laminator again and suddenly it was after seven.

I have been gathering lots of materials for sure, but soon I will need to organize it all.. to present to both my teachers and that series boxes on the web portal.  But enough for today.

I am back in Sekinchan at the coffee shop. It has been a while since I have  visited, but the waitresses are the same: the cute little girl with the cute little voice and the older Chinese woman - with her Cheesecake.  (chocolate today!)

But the ‘good times’ will soon be over.  No more heating things up and then sealing them away in a protective coating.  It will be time to come out of hiding, attack that black hole of a web portal, face the world again and get on with .. life.

I am making a list of what to do before that happens.. at the top is buying some food, as since Vas left.. well.  The cupboards are bare.

Since Vas left all I’ve eaten is ‘Cup-o-Soup’ and licorice as I laminate … and stare at the computer.
