Card Reading..

Have you ever had your fortune told?  I have...

Tea Leaves.. years ago in Vancouver the teallyfreeder... I mean the tea leaf reader, told me I was to marry a  tall dark handsome man. And wasn't it so?  It was the same night I met Michael in Vancouver at a BCIT dance with Dawn.  We spent hours talking.. we could do that.  Talk.. forever.  We 'heard' one another and it was lovely.  How was I to know he was to always love working more than anyone or anything else in his life.  He was lovely though, and the tealeafreader knew it.

She knew I was to have three kids too.. never told me they would all be boys.  But that turned out ok... great actually.. I have lovely children. It was in the cards..

And this weekend.. one of the 'mentors' on the project here, invited me to the island of Penang with her, her sister and a lovely young woman with baby boy.  Three grandma's, mom and a baby.  It was great fun.

We stayed in a two bedroom suite on the fourth floor of the Flamingo hotel on the beach north of George Town.  It isn't that far actually.. maybe four hours from here.  You have to cross an amazingly long bridge to get there.. and then work your way through an infra structure that obviously had no intention of  managing the growth that the island has experienced in the last few years.  Not a lot of jungle left on Penang, but that is ok.. the weather is conducive to things growing fast, and green and lovely.

I swam in the pool, sat at the bar stools in the water with a cold drink in one hand and french fries in the other.  I walked the beach, watched the sun set from an amazing restaurant on a hill overlooking the sea. Wonderful.. but back to the fortune-telling..

It appears to be a good year for me.  Hopefully my days of pulled muscles in my bottom are over (probably why I haven't been blogging lately.. I HATE sitting for too long: it hurts!)  She had me play with the cards, shuffle I think was her word.  So at four in the morning, when I wake up and don't know what to do with myself, especially in a strange place, I shuffled, and thought about the year to come.  Lots to think about.. lots of changes.. goals, opportunities.

Then I left them for her.. cut in half. And in the morning... she was on to it.

The first one she put in the middle and then circled it with the twelve months.  The center cards was 'the four wands'// a creative card she told me: a time to reap rewards.  It has been a crazy few years.. I think it is time to reap .. enough with the sow.. sew.. you know what I mean: I don't sew.

Then June.. "an outburst of creativity" .. Yea!  That is what I want.. an Outburst!  of Creativity!  This is a nice place to just cut yourself off.. write.. paint.. teach.. I am ready to do that.  I want some space.  I need some space.. I want to reap my rewards!

So here.. on a four lane highway, littered with decrepit trucks, scooters and motor bikes... here with greying concrete buildings, rubber trees, banana orchards and sewage ditches that almost work.. here on the mangrove muddy 'beaches' of south east Asia.. I am ready to start some creative endeavors.

Not sure yet exactly what.. hopefully I can sit up, yet again, and continue blogging: about all kinds of stuff!

Like July.. when someone creative is to enter my life.. and August.. something about sharing the wealth.. giving and taking.. all good. In September I have a great idea.. but am to keep it to myself, so don't ask.  October is family time.. inshalla I shall have visitors?

November.. more family.. and on it goes.. a wonderful, creative, relationship filled year.

Don't you love getting your fortune told?  It makes you feel like it isn't your fault.. we have no control.. destiny does it all, so... don't worry be happy.

Life goes on.

I just wish this pain in my butt would go away!
