| No.. it's not me sleeping on the bench.. not yet anyway! |
Ok.. so I am sweating a bit.
Sitting here, at the airport in Taipei, thinking about the interview that is long gone in Sydney.

I knew there had to be at least one question to ask at the interview. She kept asking me if I had any questions. I had asked Wendy, who is teaching over there in Al Ain all the questions I had. So I said no.. like three times.
I should have asked.. ‘Did I get the job?’ Hello! THAT would have been a good question.
I did finally get an ‘outfit’. I was so taken with walking around downtown Sydney that as I went to bed on the eve of interview day, I still had no idea what to wear. I had my black pants, the ones that I bought about six years ago and use to fly here there and the next place. They are a little stretchy, but mostly cotton, and always seem to fit. But I had no shirt with sleeves, and really, I had to show I had a bit of cultural awareness after living in Oman for four years! But don’t worry, I wore my own black blouse and found a good little black and grey jacket to go with it. So I showed up at the interview looking..
Like everyone else!
How crazy is that?
When I checked in at the front desk I knew without asking what she was going to tell me.
See that group of women over there (under breath.. that all look like you) that is the ‘party’ you are looking for.
Teachers.. so predictable.
The interview was ok. I was on time, and dressed right. But it has been a while since I have taught, and I didn’t do the refresher I was going to, it seemed like there would always be time, but there wasn’t of course. I think I watched Bart Simpson instead. That’s Bons fault.. I watched the show in Alice for the first time in years, and well.. it’s rather intriguing.
They asked about classroom management.
They asked about evaluation and assessment.
They asked about outcome based teaching strategies..
Then they asked about Vas.
Bugger…
Nothing I can do now. Not here.. surrounded by the sights and sounds of yet another foreign land. The Dim Sum is amazing.. so is the sweet and sour soup. The people are lovely and polite. There is a sauna and massage.. I feel like Tom Hanks in that movie where he was stuck at the airport for.. well it's just a matter of hours for me. It just seems like longer..

I am going to sit back and relax..drink my ginger tea cuz.. like I said, I really looked the part. That has to count for something. If I just would have asked the question!!!!!
