Hi Jocelyn
You will find that by the 14th of October I will have increased the rent by $10 per week. Everyone’s around here was going up by that amount so I thought it only fair that we send you the extra as well. I hope you don’t mind.
Regards
Dave
Dave lives in Alice Springs with his wife and two children. He rents my place on Gap Road. Really.. how lucky am I?!
You know, I complain about these Aussie’s but then they turn around and do this sort of stuff. It’s one thing to have a ‘good’ renter. But really, here in Oz they are so good they put up their own rent?!
I get so annoyed sometimes, overwhelmed I guess, with the different sense of humour. Aussie’s sometimes just don’t ‘get’ Canadian humour and that’s just not funny when there are no other Canadians around to see it.
Australians can be bad mannered: please and thank you really is important. And ‘sorry’ is not a bad word.
And I am not the one that ‘sounds’ funny.. and No, while I am from one of the Americas, I am not American. Canada is one of three countries in just one of the Americas. It is located north of the United States! But you won't get back in my good books by insulting the U.S. Honestly, it just doesn't work that way.
It’s different in the Aboriginal Communities. It may be chaotic and dirty, but Aboriginal people don’t ‘see’ differences. A white fellah’s a white fellah. And a smart indigenous person ‘gets’ us.
No, Australia’s not so bad.
It’s not hot everywhere in the winter, I know Alice can be cool, but the weather here in the Kimberly’s has been amazing. And Vas has a place in Cairns, on the Great Barrier Reef, where the weather is also fabulous all year around. Good weather is tops on my list.
Oz is a pretty good place to put down some roots. I’ve met some fabulous people. Vasi’s ‘unit is also rented. Kim and Brendon not only read my blog, they are one of the few readers to contribute with a comment now and then. These two also let me stay at their place when I visit. But would they actually raise their own rent?
No Dave, I don’t mind!
Since you are now an Australian, have you ever raised your own rent? Love your Blog, Dad

ReplyDeleteDilemma isn't it. As a renter I did offer to raise my rent back in 1980. As a landlord I also let my tenant stay on the same rent for over 3 years... If my current tenants would only pay their rent on a regular basis I'd be happy. Tell Vas not to hold his breathe for an offer of a rent rise at the moment but who knows what the future will bring :D
