I'm home mom! Part one anyway: Cairns

Went out for dinner tonight: night for me anyway.

We’re back home already and it’s not four yet. Not sure what time it is in Madeira, or Calgary, but I’m sure it is really late: or is it really early?

It’s Sunday afternoon here in Cairns! I think it’s Saturday in Canada?

No wonder I’m tired already, I may already be a day ahead.

I don’t feel a day ahead.

I did sleep on the plane, just not very much. I had an ‘inside’ seat. And then there was the baby, on the one side. And the fat lady. At least she kept me warm.

When I arrived the sun was out and Kym met me with a Mango smoothie! I went for a swim and we headed to the mall!

The sushi was good!

It was a little early for dinner, but Kim and her daughter Jess took me to the Sushi Train at the mall in Cairns anyway. Yum! We had soy beans (they are called something like enema, but that’s not it!), Miso soup and sushi.

We shopped for shoes, and IPads: window shopping, not the real kind. Except we bought some shoes. Not me. Don’t worry.

In Vancouver, Coquitlam actually, John took me for sushi too. We ate a little more that time. Those all-you-can-eat places are hard on a guy! We didn’t buy shoes though.

Karen and I met in Fernie and ate sushi. We had beer too: Fernie beer! Was that only a month ago?

Friends and sushi. Yum!

Oh! My computer just said “It’s 11 o’clock”. A Mac will actually tell you the time: out loud!

Maybe I should tell it we’re home.

  1. I would love it if you would make comments about my blogs.. it adds to the richness.

This is what my sister Jeri said this morning.

Hi Joc - just read your blog. Amazing how you can be on one side of the world one day and the other the next. Sounds like the trip was good. Sushi with friends all over the world (it's Edeme by the way and next time you come we shall have to go!) and visiting with family al over western Canada.

I also found it very interesting that you have now made the transition to Australia being "home". I am glad that has happened for you, it sounds like you are settled and happy there. I really enjoyed your visit and look forward to the next one!

    Love
    Jeri

    And then Jackie added:
Yes, I agree with Jeri, and there is a hole in the space here with you gone...a gap in the air, silence in places you filled with sound and energy. I know it will slowly fill up, that space, but it's strange. Peaches notices it...
It's also surreal, because for you this must be a bit of a dream - when we transport ourselves to other places, it all gets a bit dreamlike. And that makes me wonder what is real and what isn't - I suppose where were are at any given moment is the reality, but what is inspirational about your writing is that it is a reminder that our realities can change so quickly.

I hope they don't mind my posting their words here instead of leaving them in my g-mail box only to float away.
